VibeStudio IDE — Mobile-first agentic IDE
Early access · v0.1.4

A full IDE on your phone.
Nothing leaves the device.

VibeStudio is a native Android IDE with a built-in terminal, Git, an agentic AI chat and a browser with MCP tooling — running entirely on-device. Think VS Code, but mobile.

Requires Android 8.0 (API 26) · aarch64 (arm64-v8a) · Free & open source

Features

Everything you need to ship from your pocket

A self-contained development environment — editor, terminal, Git, AI and browser — in one native app.

Agentic AI chat

Chat with local or remote models that can read, edit and run your code. Every change is tracked with one-click Keep / Undo.

Models management

Configure, monitor and switch between model providers. Local-first — remote providers are optional and user-chosen.

MCP integration

Connect Model Context Protocol tool servers and expose workspace skills to your agents.

Built-in terminal

A real Linux-like shell powered by Termux. Install packages, run build tools, keep servers alive in the background.

Git, built in

Status, branches, staging, stash, commit history, in-editor diffs with hunk accept/revert and a visual conflict editor.

Agentic browser

Test your work and automate the web through a built-in WebView driven by Chrome DevTools Protocol and a dedicated MCP server.

Code editor

TextMate syntax highlighting, word wrap, diff overlays and a log viewer with filtering, search and export.

Permissions & workspace guard

Granular control over system permissions, plus workspace boundary scoping so agents only touch what you allow.

Non-negotiables

Replace a PC IDE on your phone — without ever sending your work to a remote server

Remote-dev tools are a non-starter for proprietary code, compliance rules and developers who won't pay a recurring bill for what their phone can already run. Every architecture decision is checked against these principles.

  1. 01

    No remote execution

Your code and builds run only on the device. Nothing compiles, runs or is analyzed on our servers — ever.

  2. 02

    No hidden costs or dependencies

No mandatory cloud service, no per-use metering, no silent third-party backend required for core functionality.

  3. 03

    Offline-capable by default

Editing, building and running work with the network off. Model providers are optional and chosen by you.

  4. 04

It must feel like a local IDE

The runtime (proot on F-Droid, an on-device VM on Play) is an implementation detail you never have to think about.

Build from source

VibeStudio can be built in Android Studio, VS Code with Gradle, or straight from Termux on the phone itself using the standalone build.sh.

1. Clone with submodules

The terminal core (libtermux-android) lives in a git submodule.

git clone --recursive https://github.com/thecyberd3m0n/VibeStudioIDE.git
cd VibeStudioIDE

2. Install the toolchain (Termux)

One-time setup — installs JDK, Kotlin, aapt2, d8 and friends.

./install_dependencies_termux.sh

3. Build the APK

Compiles, dexes, aligns and signs. Output lands in bin/VibeStudio.apk.

./build.sh

Prefer a desktop? Open the project in Android Studio or run ./gradlew :app:assembleDebug. See theREADME for VS Code tasks, adb setup and debugging tips.
